Honoring Mentors

There is nothing that draws me into the forest more powerfully than the chance to discover wild mushrooms. Since I can find no information available on the Internet regarding local (north Olympic Peninsula/Olympic National Park) fungi, I am putting all of my photos here. If you disagree with any of my identifications, please contact me. I want to provide accurate information here.

I am including an Excel spreadsheet which lists all of the fungi that I've found on Barnes Point, Lake Crescent, Olympic National Park, WA. It also includes my efforts in mycophagy. Thus far, I've eaten over 80% of the 280 species I've come across.

I've also added a list of 82 additional fungi that I ate while foraging in the redwood forests of Loma Mar, CA, a few years back.  So, in total, I've enjoyed (mostly!) the various tastes of 362 species of fungi thus far...
